What should I expect during the recruitment process and at interview?

We pride ourselves in responding to each and every applicant, successful or not. If you are shortlisted for a role, we will make contact with you to book an interview. Once you confirm attendance, we will follow up with details of the interview, so you know where to go, who to meet and what to expect.

Occasionally, we will include a telephone interview, second interview stage, or a test and will always keep you informed about the next steps. Our interviews last about 45 minutes and are designed for us to understand your skills, competencies and behaviours. We usually make decisions within a couple of days of interview and always within a week.

What should I expect on my first day?

You will be greeted and shown around by your line manager. The first day will be all about meeting your new team and becoming familiar with our Health and Safety and Company Management Systems. It is a good idea to bring some lunch with you, as some of our offices are surrounded by fields and trees. During the first week, you will set objectives as part of your personal development plan.

What career growth opportunities are there at Stonbury?

As a growing business, we are always on the look-out for talented individuals who have the ambition to grow with us. Many of our existing Directors and Managers have worked through the ranks to where they are today.

What is the office dress code?

We are quite relaxed here and more focused on getting the job done well. Smart casual works for most of us.

What are the core office hours?

Can I apply for a position if I can't find it advertised?

We welcome speculative applications directly from candidates. Agencies, please be aware we have a Preferred Supplier List (PSL) in place and will not progress any speculative CVs.

How do I know I'm part of a fair, unbiased process?

All decisions are made without regard to an employee’s age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership status, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion/belief, sex or sexual orientation.

For how long will you store my application?

I have a disability. Can you accommodate my needs during the recruitment process?

How does PayGo© work for site staff?

Stonbury operate a price work scheme called PayGo©, allowing Supervisors and Operatives the opportunity to earn the money they deserve for working hard on site. Supervisors receive a scope of works prior to the job commencing, detailing the work required and the earnings for each element of the job. The work completed is booked in weekly and paid out monthly.  You will earn a minimum monthly amount which will increase as you complete the scope of works on site. Typical earnings are £30,000 - £45,000 per annum. Subject to you not declining work you are guaranteed a gross minimum salary of £27,040 (operative) or £32,448 (supervisor) per annum. If you are stood down for reasons beyond your control such as in the case of inclement weather making work impossible or unreasonable, you will be paid at least this minimum monthly salary split across 12 monthly payments or your actual worked hours if greater.

We know this is a big decision. If your application is successful, we will allow plenty of time to answer all of your burning questions during the interview.
